My phone, the Fairphone 5, is rather chonky. And so far I like the way it sits in my hand(s) way more than slimmer phones. I also got a modification for my first 3DS which was a 5000mAh battery which almost doubled the thickness of the device. I'd want to keep it on even if I change out the battery for a stock battery, just because it feels better. I honestly don't understand why so much funds have to go into designing a super slim product. I would much rather have a cheaper device, or a device with better specs
